Mental Health & Addiction Recovery Service

Mental Health & Addiction Recovery Service

We provide residential and community-based rehabilitation treatment within the MidCentral or Hawkes Bay DHB regions, and we work with people to assist them to achieve the best life possible.

We Believe In:

  • Education and empowerment. Valuing the person.
  • Enabling people to make good choices for themselves.
  • A person’s addiction cannot be viewed in isolation for effective and sustainable change to occur.
  • That no single theory or model of treatment is right for, or will fit with every individual.
  • Supporting people to develop skills to support change away from addiction.

The Monarch Recovery Programme

The Monarch Recovery Programme is an educational and life skills based programme that addresses addiction, mental health and social issues. It is presented in 9 modules, that cycle throughout the year. Entry into the Programme occurs regularly, as people are motivated and ready to begin their recovery journey. This service provides various levels of care to assist people who are experiencing significant impairment to the function of their everyday lives, due to their alcohol and/or other drug use. Potential participants need to attend one-on-one appointments with their MASH keyworker, as well as come along to one of our afternoon groups before they start.

The Monarch Recovery Programme modules are:

  1. Anxiety Management
  2. Addiction
  3. Anger Management
  4. Relapse Prevention
  5. Communication
  6. Boundaries
  7. Family/Whanau & Relationships
  8. Mental Health & Wellbeing
  9. Life Skills

Community Monarch Programme

This option is recommended for people who have healthy support in the community or are unable to leave their home. This option can support community participants to maintain a normal lifestyle whilst applying new skills into real situations and reflecting on the outcomes.

People from the Community attend the morning programme Monday to Friday from 8:30am to 12:30pm, for a minimum of 8 weeks in Palmerston North, or 9 weeks in Hastings.

They have the choice to participate in the afternoon programme with the people who are in the residential programme.

Residential Monarch Programme

This option is recommended for people who are more vulnerable, from out of town, or at risk in their environment, unable to maintain abstinence from substances without 24-hour support, are in abusive relationships, or influenced by peer pressure.

Residential participants have the opportunity to integrate skills in a supported living environment through 24/7 support and supervision.

As a resident you will attend a group prevention programme Monday to Friday 8:30am to 3pm. The morning programme covers the weekly modules. The afternoon programme consists of self-directed learning, creative expression, art, support group, gym and recreational life skills. There are also evening activities at the house.

Support Group

Every Tuesday 1:30 – 2.30pm.

EVENING SUPPORT GROUP

The Evening Support group is for people that have completed the Monarch programme or work during the day and require support. All participants require an initial assessment to determine suitability. This group is responsive to participants needs and provides education and interventions.
