Respite Services

MASH is able to provide a Planned Respite service for mental health consumers.

The idea of planned respite is to provide an alternative to current living situations and is available for up to 60 days per calendar year, with 21 days availability to clients currently living within supported accommodation.

Planned Respite is ideal for use through the weekend and weekdays and can be implemented as a complement for:

-  Up-skilling, development and independence as

   part of a community life skill programme.

-  Transition into the community

-  Time-out holiday

 

Palmerston North Respite

-  Two bedroom fully furnished flat where people have their own room.

-  The flat has kitchen, bathroom, lounge and outdoor areas with

   excellent indoor-outdoor flow.

-  Situated in a suburb of Palmerston North within close proximity to

   bus, shopping and recreational facilities.

 

Wellington Respite

A bedsit in Brooklyn, close to the bus stop to go into town.  The

   bedsit contains kitchen, bathroom and laundry facilities.  This 

   bedsit is suitable for clients who require little support in activities of 

   daily living.

-  MASH also provides respite care in a house with six other people.  

   This house is staffed 24 hours a day and is suitable for people who 

   wish to meet new people in a relaxed environment and require a 

   little more support.

 

All our respite facilities are 

fully funded at no cost to the service user, but it is recommended that users bring some money for their own recreational activities and transport.
