Friendship Facilitation Services The Ministry of Health has purchased a Friendship facilitation service for former residents of the Kimberley Centre with an Intellectual Disability who have left Kimberley after 14th April 2003.
The service is to assist people with an Intellectual Disability to be members of the wider community through the facilitation of meaningful relationships and also through the development of social networks by active community participation in social settings such as culture groups, clubs and other groups. Service Components Set up a referral and matching service Meet the service user to ascertain their needs Match a volunteer to provide ongoing support to the service user Foster community integration Client and/or family are consulted and satisfied Promote service through a variety of groups/clubs Form linkages with all stakeholders
